I quite liked your game! The best bit was the quick time events for the enemies, it's rare you see those in a horror game! To be honest, it did make it a little less scary, but I thought it made it WAY MORE FUN! Snapped that ghosties neck!

Hope you like the Lumps Play.

Text Pop-up Commentary FTW!

Great game guys! I'd definitely play the full game if you could beat your wife to death with the flashlight that has to be recharged every 30 seconds.

I could've probably explored a little more. Was confused at if this was the end of the game or not! D:

It's looking very promising, some work on the sounds for better jumpscares and maybe take away all the symbols that leads you to the objects to encourage exploration. Keep up the good work!

Hi there.  I really enjoyed playing the demo but I think I've found a bug because whenever I pick up the crowbar the bedroom door closes and I can't get back out again.  So while it's short, I've done a lil' video about this.  Sorry for my big dumb at the start.

i dont know what the game is but it sounds cool i really want to play so here i install it now.

Short Game but very fun to play got a couple of nice scares in..

Enjoy

Hey Sir,

Finally someone had the smart idea of using the god mode to get rid of this (WIP) flashlight reloading :D Thanks you for your video man, I liked it

Peace

Loved the game! Hope you get all the love and support you guys need if this project is going further!

Hey CoalFire,

We have already discussed about it but thanks again for your interesting feedback !

(+1)

Would probably have been better without a monster? :)

Helloooo GaB,

What do you mean ? Like a walk simulator in a creepy house ? xD It's already something like that at this stage, isn't it haha
Thanks for you video :)

Peace

This game had a awesome creepy atmosphere and was really well done for a school project.  The only thing I wish is the flaslight lasted a little longer and all the controls werent only ps4 but besides that Amazing job!

Gameplay

Hey JDotplay,

Thank you for your video !! :) We are curently working on it to get rid of the whole PS4 layout ton this game. So it will be not confusing like that anymore on the future update.  And yeah, this flashlight is apparently an issue for everybody but I hope you enjoyed the experience  anyway. (use the god mode in the pause menu if you want to get rid of the flashlight)

Cheers

Dementia is a short horror game that has a solid foundation to become something greater than the sum of its parts. As far as what's on offer here currently - it's too short and doesn't really get the blood pumping the way a horror game should do in this day and age. Still it is worth checking out for its decent visuals and spooky setting. Flashlight mechanic is a bit of a frustration though.

Hi SuperHorrorBros,

Tbh with you, this game wasn't meant to be here on itch.io  xD
We only did this for our graduation and that's the reason why it it so short. A lot of people asked us to share this experience with the community, and now that we are seeing all those feedbacks and encouragments to do something better with it.
It brings us to the idea of what could be this game in the future !! And we are seriously thinking about it. But let's start with smaller update first, like fixing this flashlight :P

Peace !

I enjoyed this game quite a bit! I wish it was longer! Also I love the flashlight mechanic! way better than looking for batteries! Loved playing it on my channel!

Hey pTs42,

I seriously had a good time watching your video man :) Keep up the good work and thank you for your feedback !

Peace

I finally got my PS4 controller to work on here but once loaded into the game my character looks straight up and just starts to spin and I don't how to fix it. If you know how let me know as I want to play this, if not let me know when you update the game and I will play it. Best of luck!

Jonny

Hey Jonny,

For some unknown reasons, even if your are using a tool like DS4Tool to emulate an Xbox controller, the camera is doing weird rotation. We are totally aware of that :/
The only thing that I can advice you to do for now, is simply using an Xbox controller. I really hope thaht you have one.

Cheers

What's up everyone? My name is Slester, so the game is cool it has that vibe. I know it is a trial version but i feel like it kinda lacks of scariness. I bet you guys can come up with way more scary things. other than that the game is good, anyways here is my gameplay video i hope you guys will enjoy it!

Hey Slester,

I would like to thank you for your video man :) I totally agree with you about the scariness , I also feel like we could do way better than that. But keep in mind that it was a first experience for us. And the horror genre is not an easy type of game to tackled :D

Cheers

Any chance you'll release this with mapping for a ps4 controller for pc? Seems kinda strange that the game was built for ps4 but uses a xbox gamepad on pc.

(1 edit)

We will completely get rid of the PS4 controller because for some reasons the camera is in constant rotation when we are using  a PS4 controller. But we are currently working on making it playable with a keyboard. And the layout will be changed for a Xbox Controller.
Sorry for the inconvenient :/

Unfortunately you made this game not ready for PC.
PLEASE..if you're going to release content on PC ..you MUST tailor it for PC gameplay. It 'can' be played with PC controls but unfortunately it's using AZERTY and the prompts come up with PS4 controls. The user should NOT have to google a ps4-keyboard control layout in order to play a game..

Totally ruined the experience because carelessly handled

Hey Raedwulf,
I feel so sorry to disappoint :( But tbh, as mentionned in the description , our first target was a PS4 and not the PC.  It requieres a lot of work to make it runs on both platform at the same time.
That's why we've shared this game/experience for FREE, just to have some feedback from the community, improve ourself and share some fun. Far away from the idea to frustrate any players because it requieres a gamepad.
Peace

If you can't at least given controls to the PC version adequately you should not present the product on PC....it doesn't matter how hard it is..it's hard and that's the way it is..you shouldn't showcase a product until it's ready. I think controls aside you have an interesting experience for a horror game but if you're looking for feedback on the PC it has got to be playable.

I spent almost 30 minutes trying to figure out what buttons did what. I did have a ps4 controller but my daughter at the time was using it..after some time I finally plugged my ps4 controller in...but for whatever reason it wasn't working with the game (it kept spinning in circles) ..now I doubt that was at fault for your work it's likely a complication on my end...BUT...I can't stress enough that if you're uploading your product for PC you need to have it ready for PC. The controls/prompts need to be PC ready.

I also noticed the PC controls were also in AZERTY which is fine for european/french but most of the world plays QWERTY so if you can target the majority audience you'll get better feedback

Anyway..regardless of my experience I'm looking forward to how this game develops.

I have a subscriber base of almost 300,000 and I probably won't upload the video because I literally couldn't even continue the game.

We will update the project soon to make it match to your expectations :) There is no need to be harsh like that. I could understand your frustration if we were asking you 5 dollars or even 1 dollar for it.
But the game is set "in development" for a reason, and you have very well illustrated what remains to be fixed.

We thank you very much for your feedback and we are doing our best to satisfy you asap.
Stay tuned !

i had your same problems, try a xbox remote or going into the settings before you load the game and change your movement controls. hope this helps man

Love the style of the game. but you have a lot of work to do still.

Hey Schauerland,
I was about to write something on your Youtube channel until I noticed that your community is German only xD
Thanks for your video man, it is so much appreciated to see ppl encourages us to keep doing our job like that :)

(+1)

hey :)

thanks, you can comment in english as well, i'll read it and reply to it.

I left some critics at the end of the video here are my points:

- i love the details very porfessional
- sounds are not so good, but I dont know the current state of the game - this will a big tons of work. for me personal - with good sound effects the game comes alive.
- animations are not so smooth right now - they're not bad but they can be better (comparing to graphics they seem a bit low)

if you can include keyboard support and i bet more youtubers will play and share your game.

Despite only being a few minutes long, the game was surprisingly good. The atmosphere is creepy and tense and the visuals are outstanding, the game looks very good.

The flashlight drains pretty quickly but that's just a minor gripe, I can't think of many issues  I had while playing.

Overall, it's short, sweet and to the point, an interesting experience that I quite liked.

I hope you don't mind but I made a short let's play of the game.

Cheers and best wishes!

Hey Famed,
Thank you for your feedback ! Having this graphic quality running on a PS4 was maybe the most difficult part of this project. So we appreciate that you like the visuals ! :)

Obviously this doesn't mind us! Keep up your good work man

Really cool and well made experience!
Would love if you could tweak the audio a lil bit. Cause I could barely hear the mom at all and the fireplace was loud AF. Please keep on working on this! :)

Stay Rad Everybody!!

Oh maaayn, you have so much energy :D
Your video is super haha I liked it ! And thank you for your feedback at the end. It helps us to improve ourself for the future.
Keep your good energy and continue what your are doing coz it's great ! :)
Peace

Haha yeah I have energy for days x'D Some people hate it, some people love it haha :P
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed this short demo! Can't wait to see where you guys take this in the future, cause I wanna see more!
And you're welcome for the feedback. That's what I love by doing YouTube videos, not only to play the games which only that is amazing but also to be little bit of a reviewer. And what I've seen so far from this project is great and you can take this places :)
I will! My energy is faaaaaar from gone haha :D

Stay Rad Peps and keep me updated!

Really cool, other than the jumpscares needed to be louder!

I had a good time on your video xD You made me laugh a lot.
I never imagined that someone would make a playthrough full of memes with our game :D
Thank you so much for your comment and this video.

Haha I liked it! Really cool, keep it up :D Can't wait to see a full version!

Too bad it's not for PC

Yes it is !! :) Play it and give us your feedback.
We are looking forward to hearing from you soon then

Had to dig out my old 360 controller for this, but it was worth it. Pretty neat stuff overall! I only wish the flashlight had a little longer life before needing to be wound up again, but besides that I had fun. Interiors looked great and I really liked the rain running down the windows. Nice job!

(+1)

Hiii Mister,
Thank you for your feedback. It is so much appreciated !
Yeah this flashlight was our biggest issue during the development of the project. But we've planned to fix this soon :)
Haha special thanks for the rain running down the window coz it's something that I made :D It's cool that you've noticed it, we've given a special attention to details !
Peace
